Hi everyone! ๐ค
Glad to have catch up with ye again in this new blog entry. How have you all been? Everyone is ready for their summer/school break? Unfortunately it is still winter here in Ireland ๐ญ but I was so so glad that we were going away to somewhere sunny for a week -Italy! ๐ฒ๐ฝ Most importantly though, my hubby’s family were flying all the way from Malaysia to join us. And we are called ‘the Voonies’ ๐คฃ
I managed to get few pictures for ye all (cuz I know you guys love them) but I might have to break them into 2 parts as the total pictures I wanna show off are probably 100? ๐ฑ๐ฑ๐ฑ I know, I know, maybe just 90 okie? ๐๐๐
Day 1
We woke up very early Sunday morning to catch our Coach bus to the airport. Our flight was 640am and arrived in Rome at 1030am local time. As soon as we walked out of the airport, sweats trickled down my back and tbh, I forgot how sweat feels like ๐ย Rocking the no make-up look while transferring via bus from Ciampino airport to our aparthotel, Le Chiavi Roma, located few minutes walk away from the Vatican city. It only costs us โฌ4.50 each for the bus and certainly very easy to use!
Our host, Alessia was really kind. She whatsapp me the night before our arrival and allow us to check in much earlier at 11am! Her place was clean, self-sufficient and has air-conditioning. Price is about โฌ110/day including city tax. She also has coffee machine which is free to use (with unlimited hot choc!) ๐๐ผ
Upon our arrival, guess what we did first? ๐คฃ Nap, of course! ๐คฃ Nothing is more important than a good nap underneath the air-conditioning! After that, we woke up hungry and our food hunt began.. pasta much, hon?ย
It was Sunday and a lot of restaurants were closed. We managed to sit down eventually, 200m from our aparthotel.ย
Spagetti bologneseย for him. Tuna salad for me. Gradual intro into the carbs, I guess ๐
Our view! And why… are you so majestic? ๐๐๐ After we were less-hungry (cuz you never gets full with just grass), we made our way to Piazza Navona.ย
Yasss, I still have some space for gelato! And this man next to me, as you can see, was very enthusiastic bout my gelato and camera! control ayu abang ๐
Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi
Omg, can you see that man playing the guitar? He didn’t play music. He played magic! We ended up buying his CD for our future road trips ๐ค such a talent! ๐ผ๐ผ๐ผ
If you follow my Instagram @sophievoon, you probably have seen similar pictures. We spent our evening here before heading off but first, more street pictures!ย Taking pictures here does not require a lot of effort. You just clicked and the picture is purrfect! ๐ธ
We went home and changed to head off again for dinner at Antica Osteria Brunetti. This time, we were having the much antipated dinner with our aunty Mary and uncle Patrick coming all the way from Malaysia, as well as cousin Yvonne and boyfie, Luca! ๐
It was nice to catch up and we certainly had a good time! The food tho… ๐ฑ the best pasta I had by far, hands down ๐๐ฝ
Day 2
I woke up at 530am and couldn’t help it but to shower, played my jiwangย playlist and started to draw my face with pens, brushes and beauty blender. I don’t even know a girl needs this many things to achieve a no make-up make-up look. Sighhh..
We left at 7 am and the first location has gotta be Trevi Fountain! ๐คฃSuprisingly (or maybe not too surprising), there were few people there already! ๐
I’m not sure where he learned all these poses ๐ This was first take and it was a wrap!
Next destination: Colloseo!ย ย We slowly made our way home after this but had to stop for something Italian, like expresso! ๐คฃ #sakaipeopleproblem
ย Banana pancake so yummy! ๐ฑ
On our way back, we met with this beauty.ย Altare della Patria
Some goverment building. I have no idea what it is. Just thought it has nice aesthetic ๐
We got home, changed and headed out again! It was so exciting as our family just arrived and will meet us up for lunch. We have been planning this trip for more than 6 months and finally the wait is over ๐๐ผ
But first, #ootd!ย On our way to the lunch place, I stumbled upon perfect lighting for Basilica di San Pietro. So, I just had to ๐ธ
Finally here.. at Checco er Carretierre. It is an Italian Taverna, which has been around for three generations.
ย ย The Voonies’ reunion and.. yes, there is Luca too, on far left. He is perhaps, the-soon-to-be Voonies ๐๐๐ฝ๐
It was so cool to be gathering around in another foreign country! We tried to spend as much time together so next stop was gelato! ๐จ
We said our goodbyes to Cousin Yvonne, Luca and her parents. Hopefully we will see each other soon in a much happier occasion! ๐
That evening, we met up with hubby’s mom and siblings @Spanish steps. The rest of the world and myself have always wondered why the bloody hell is Spanish steps doing in Rome?! ๐๐ If you have the answer, please comment down below!๐
We had a quick dinner and called it a night. The next day is going to be a long one!
Before I let you go, here are some pictures of course! Just in case you have not gotten enough ๐
Every corner is just bellesimo. I just can’t.
I told you that I have like A LOT of pictures to show. I hope you haven’t vomit blood -yet. This marks of the part 1 of our journey in Italy. Stay tuned for the other 1000 pictures. ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ
Anywho, its Friday and a long weekend in some countries. Wish you a pleasant days off and remember to stay young and alive! ๐
See ya in the next one! ๐๐ฝ
